Maybe you are struggling in your leadership or maybe you find yourself in a “dry place”. If so, I want to encourage you to make some room in your life, faith, and leadership.

In Isaiah 54, we find our selves staring at a dry and weary people. They are feeling rejected. They knew what is was to know God and his presence. In fact, they knew God’s presence enough to know they currently did not have it. God sent the prophet Isiah to speak this word to them…. saying…..

Isaiah 54:1-4 (NIV)
1 “Sing, O barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,” says the LORD. 2 “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. 3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities. 4 “Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated.

The most incredible insult a family or a woman could feel in this culture is the insult of infertility. Having children was not only a great joy, but it was essential to survival. If we don’t watch it, we will allow ourselves to be “barren women” and not care! Some churches, ministries, and people have become satisfied with “infertility” and fail to understand that growth is not only amazing, but essential to our survival! Let that not be so with you!

…people have become satisfied with “infertility” and fail to understand that growth is not only amazing, but essential to our survival!

What does God Tell His people to do?

1. Sing

1 “Sing, O barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,” says the LORD.

Why would God tell them to Sing? Because Growth was on its way! We must be a people who Gives God praise and victory through faith before our victory ever becomes a reality. Fast Forward hundreds of years to John 4:35 where Jesus says, “Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.”
The same God that challenged his people through Isaiah many years ago is the same God who challenged His disciples through Jesus in John 4 and He is the same God that is challenging you today to Sing because the Harvest is coming and is already here!

We must be a people who Gives God praise and victory through faith before our victory ever becomes a reality.

2. Enlarge

v.2 “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.

We must be determined to see growth in our lives and know that sacrifice and trials are the requirement for progress. A ministry that costs nothing, accomplishes nothing.

Question: What is God wanting to enlarge in you?

3. Don’t be afraid

4 “Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame.
Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated.

The remedy for fear is: Faith, Hope and love. Remember that God has not given us the spirit of fear, but power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Timothy 2:7)

My conclusion is simple… Don’t be a barren woman and make some room!!!! Sing, Enlarge,  and Don’t be afraid! God has great plans for you and He did not bring you this far in your life and leadership to leave you “stuck and dry”. Allow the Holy Spirit to work on you, in you, and through you.
