Hebrews 12:1-2 “…since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…”

Jesus is absolutely unequivocally the greatest thing in the life of the believer. He is the Alpha and Omega. He is the glory of God. He is God in flesh. He will literally be the light in Heaven. He is not just our Savior, but also our redeemer. Our Christian life is not designed to work without Jesus and if we don’t watch it, we can lose sight of Him. For some reason, once we have come to the cross, we have a tendency to want to go somewhere else. There is no where else to go! We must keep our eyes on the King.

Every time a believe gets his/her eyes off of Jesus, he/she gets weird. You know what I’m talking about? They are uptight, irritable, selfish, etc. But when someone spends time with Jesus, they become generous, genuinely happy, patient, and the list could go on and on. Having said that, I want to give you two thoughts to help you keep your eyes on Jesus.

1. Don’t let the rules keep you from the Ruler!

Too many people are too focused on getting rid of sin, instead of just focusing on Jesus. Hebrews 12 (Above) says the way we get rid of sin, is by “looking unto Jesus.” Jesus not only starts your faith but will finish it! Your faith can not be made unto completion without Christ!

1. Don’t let the Kingdom keep you from the King!

Many times, it’s the good things in life that can rob us from the great thing in Jesus.  Don’t let the benefits of the kingdom keep you from the blessing of the King. Ministry, miracles, blessing, and favor are all good, but not as great as Jesus. Last Week, we had over 30 students make a decision to follow Christ. That is incredible! But not as incredible as Jesus!

Keep you eyes on Jesus!
