Galatians 6:9 says, Let us not become weary [exhausted, spiritless] in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Do you feel exhausted? Do you feel like you are carrying a huge weight on your back? Are you smiling on the outside, but frowning on the inside? Have you been losing you joy? Your peace? Your purpose? Are you doubting God? Are you wanting to give up on ministry? If so, God has burdened me to tell you “Do not give up!” This is part two of our three part blog. We are focusing on three specific areas that God is wanting you to not give up in. Those three areas are: 1) Don’t give up on the WORK that God is doing IN YOU. 2) Don’t give up on the WORD that God has spoken OVER YOU. 3) Don’t give up on the PEOPLE that God is CALLING you to. Whether you are a student, pastor, parent, or small group leader, I believe this blog will help you.
Don’t Give up on the WORD that God has spoken OVER YOU.
God has given you dreams, shown you pictures, and revealed to you visions concerning your future. You may be asking yourself, “Why have I not seen anything happen yet?” I want to tell you “Don’t give up!” Every word that God has said over you is a seed planted into your future. In order for that seed to grow, it must first be buried. The same applies with us. The words that God speaks into our future need to be buried deep in our hearts. We’re not popping popcorn. We’re building legacy. That takes time. It also takes periods of silence. No stage, no microphone, no position-Just you’re seed buried in you. Isn’t this so difficult to emotionally handle? We want the new phone now. We want the title and position now. We want the money now. We want influence now. We want to be starting on the varsity team as a freshman after the third day of tryouts. Then, add on the fact that we spend hours on social media comparing our buried seed with someone else’s cropped and edited harvest. That isn’t real life! We are setting ourselves up for failure not realizing that we have a dilemma: “God’s not on our time. We are on His.”
Let’s read Galatians 6:9 again, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
God has a proper time that doesn’t fit into our agenda. We must trust his timing! Here is a secret to help you: You must learn to be content with where you are and what God has you doing. Content means “A state of satisfaction/ trust. It is a state of Faith that God is God and He has everything under control. In other words, you must be satisfied with where you are and what God has you doing”. You can’t control your harvest, but you can control what you do with your seed. Don’t give up on that seed! Water what God has spoken over you. Bury it deep in your heart. Wait. At His proper time, God will bring increase into your life. Don’t give up on it!
